Overview
Thank you for choosing
W Prompt, a
freeware
application, which helps you to remind birthdays and anniversaries stored in the
Windows Address Book (WAB)/Outlook Express [more info].

Installation
W Prompt requires no special installation, all you have to do is to download the application and
unpack it into a folder, then start the WPrompt.exe file.
Recommended operating system: Windows XP SP2
Minimum operating system: Windows 2000
Not tested on: Windows 9x/ME, Vista feedback
Using W Prompt
When you start W Prompt it will check for any events (birthday or anniversary)
that occur today, tomorrow or within the period you set in the configuration, and
will display those events [if any] in the Event List.
Then
- if no user action is made, the Event List dialog will be closed automatically -
and based on the configuration -
- the program will stop;
- or will continue to run in the system tray;
- while the Event List is shown
- you can stop the application by pressing the Quit Program button;
- or you can dismiss the Event List and continue using W Prompt by selecting
the Send to Tray button.
[NOTE: this will cancel the automatic close of the Event List]
If W Prompt icon is shown next to the clock, you can use the
- left mouse button to show the application's main window;
- right mouse button to show a pop-up menu;
Configuration
Configuration options available from the Options tab:
- Check mode for due events: commands the main operation of the application
- Check on start and quit: W Prompt will finish its run after the Event List is shown for the
specified period and no user action is made. This option is recommended if your computer is turned on at least daily.
- Check daily: a check for due events will be done on a day by day basis.
This is the recommended setting if your computer is always on.
- Check forward for due events within...: determines the period W Prompt
checks into the future for birthdays or anniversaries.
- Automatically close event list after...: here you can specify how long W Prompt
displays the Event List before automatically closing it.
[NOTE: not applicable for manual checks.]
- Always on top: if selected, the W Prompt window will always be the topmost window.
Save Changes: no changes are recorded until you press this button.
FAQ
Q: How can I restore check mode from "Check on start and quit" to "Check daily"?
A: Follow these steps:
- Start W Prompt;
- Select the Send to Tray button;
- Click on the application's icon next to the clock;
- Select the Options tab;
P.S: don't forget to activate your changes by pressing Save Changes.
