GOAL OF THE GAME

By clicking with your mouse you’re controlling a game figure through many levels where you have to face Persecutors that are chasing you all the time and will kill you, if you’re not able to escape or destroy them. In progress of the game the number of the Persecutors as well as their speed and strength is increasing. Fortunately, you can afford a better weapon when collecting coins. Yet, while escaping from the Persecutors you will also have to collect objects increasing your score because the main goal of the game is getting a highscore.

THE MENU

In the menu of RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! you may choose between the following options:

NEW GAME

Allows you to start a new game.

CONTINUE GAME

When saving a game you will be given a code that you may enter here if you wish to continue the game.

TRAINING

Brings you to a training level where you’re capable of practising the handling with your weapon. Speed and strength of the ten training Persecutors as well as the attributes of your weapon can be set as you like.

THE STATUS DISPLAY

The status screen on the left side displays the following informations:

Left on the top your current score, right beside the current level.
Under this your energy level displayed as a bar.
Under this your top speed displayed as a bar.
Under this on the left side the number of the Persecutors defeated by you, right beside your money in euros.
Under this ammunition, range, power, and efficiency of your weapen. The fire power of your weapon resulting from this is displayed above: the field on the left shows how much damage is done to a Persecutor situated next to you. On the right you can see the injury to a Persecutor that is 480 pixels away. The spectrum goes from white (no damage) over yellow (medium damage) to red (high damage).
Below the weapon display follows the number of Zaps – a really powerful weapon – at your disposal as well as – if available – the button for activating a Zap.
Under this the remaining time till the appearance of the “Cypers” is displayed.

THE SHOP

At the beginning and for some times during the game you will enter a shop giving you the possibility of buying goods and services. There will only goods and services be displayed that you can afford and that are available to you. The shop contains the following:

RELOAD WEAPON

For 9 euros the ammunition of your weapon is reset to 1000 rounds.

CURE

Restoring a part of your lost energy and your maximum top speed will cost you 19 euros.

INCREASE WEAPON RANGE

29 euros is the price for increasing the range of your weapon by ten pixels.

INCREASE WEAPON POWER

For raising your weapon’s power by three per cent 39 euros will be taken from your account.

INCREASE WEAPON EFFICIENCY

Your account will be debit with 49 euros when increasing the efficiency of your weapon by three per cent.

ZAP

A very powerful, for all that an expensive weapon: 99 euros per round.

After having finished your purchasing you may choose between four options:

LEAVE SHOP AND CONTINUE GAME

You will be brought to the next level.

LEAVE SHOP, SAVE AND CONTINUE GAME

You’re leaving the shop and will be given a code before entering the next level. With this code you’re able to continue the game at this position later. You should create a new text file with all of your RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! game codes by copying and pasting the code.

LEAVE SHOP, SAVE AND QUIT GAME

You will get the code for continuing the game and will be brought back to the menu.

QUIT GAME

The game will be cancelled.

At the beginning of each level you will be given informations on number, strength, and speed of the Persecutors awaiting you:

highest number
highest strength
highest speed

THE FIELD

The figure you’re controlling is situated in the left corner at the top at the beginning of each level. The Persecutors are waiting in the other corners. Scattered in mid of the field, you can see the objects you can collect. Through the courtesy of the scrolling bars you may look at that corner of the field you like to at any time.

YOUR FIGURE

When clicking in the field your figure makes an action. At this there are the following possibilities:

MOVING

By clicking in an empty part of the field your figure will move there which also means a loss of energy. At this it will save energy making a lot of small steps instead of making less big steps. On the other hand creeping all the time is of course not the stuff because the Persecutors are chasing you permanently. Your top speed is depending on your energy: at full energy you can maximally move 500 pixels per action. The less energy you have, the lower is your top speed. When you click in an area of the field which is out of your range that means no action.

COLLECTING AN OBJECT

If you click on one of the objects in the mid of the field, you will – if it’s within your range – move there and collect it what will give you the following:

200 points
500 points
1000 points
1 euro
2 euros
surprise

TAKING A REST

When clicking on your figure it will stay on its position. By taking this rest you’re able to gather strength: you will be given back a part of your lost energy.

SHOOTING AT A PERSECUTOR

You can fire your weapon at a Persecutor by clicking on it. The Persecutor will lose strength and as result of this also speed. How much it will be weakened is depending on its distance as well as on range, power, and efficiency of your weapon. The Persecutor will be destroyed, if its energy level goes down to zero. No action will be done, if you click on a Persecutor that is situated beyond your weapon’s range, or if your weapon is out of ammunition.

ZAPPING THE PERSECUTORS

When having zaps at your disposal you have the possibility of pushing the button “Zap” in the status screen. As result of this all Persecutors will suffer from an extremely high loss of energy. Yet, they can’t be killed in this way, they will only be weakened.

LEAVING THE LEVEL

In almost all levels you have always the possibility of moving to a blinking arrow in the right corner at the bottom in order to leave the current level. You will be given a bonus for the remaining time.

YOUR ENEMIES

THE PERSECUTORS

After each of your actions the Persecutors will move directly to your position. You will lose energy when one of them gets you. How much energy is depending on its strength. Furthermore, your maximum top speed will be decreased.

THE SENTINELS

Sometimes you will face a Sentinel Persecutor on a smaller field. This one is extremely strong but it has to be beaten to enable you reaching the next level.

THE CYPERS

If the level’s time is over, the very dangerous Cypers will appear. It won’t wait until you’ve made an action, it moves continuously. Furthermore, you can’t zap or shot it. Being caught by the Cypers always means death.

END OF THE GAME

The game will end at one of the three events below:

You ran out of energy.
You have finished the last level successfully.
You have selected “Quit Game” in the shop.

After the game is over you will be given a bonus for the Persecutors destroyed by you.
