HTMLstarter is a small exe file that sits on the root
of your CD. It will automatically launch the end user's default
browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, etc.) and open a
page named "index.htm", also located in the CD root.
To use, simply place the two files in the zip download (autorun.inf
& HTMLstarter_free.exe) on the root of your CD, along
with your index.htm file.
Your home page (index.htm) could be nothing more than
a redirect page, instructing the browser to launch a webpage located
somewhere else on the CD, or it could be a page of links to other
pages on the CD, such as:
• a resume in HTML format
• a photo gallery
• a portfolio
• a sample website design
• links to other sample webpage designs on the same CD
the options are as endless as your imagination!
Launching a local webpage (as opposed to a remote one, located
on a server somewhere on the internet) is convenient in a number
of ways.
Suppose you're at a trade show, and want to show off your new
product to someone you meet there. Too bad there's not a handy
phone line laying around to dial up and connect to your site...
With HTMLstarter, all you do is pass out the CD with your
product page on it, fire up your laptop, and your product page
immediately pops open!
You could pass out your e-business card the same way, with your
contact information, a listing of services you provide, your rates,
webpage samples, etc.
Your portfolio of design work could be browsed by a potential
client while they fly from New York to Nassau, Bahamas - where
they could also peruse it while sitting on a beach sipping an
