What is FM Style Maker
FM Style Maker, a FileMaker Pro template, exports styled list and table with HTML and Rich text format (RTF) from your data included in FileMaker Pro, Tab-separated text, CSV, Works. You can learn how to make tagged text file by FileMaker Pro.
Outline of the use

Select List or Table

Select List Maker or Table Maker.

Import data

Click "Import Data" button, and select your database. FM Style Maker can import up to 8 items. If you want to import new data, click "Delete all record" at first.

Make label
Label Put name of each item in the Label field.

Sort records
Sort records using item1 to Item8 to which you want.

Input serial number
Click "Input serial No" button to input serial number to all records imported.

Set order & delimitors
Set form of number (including none), order of items, delimitors between items.
7
Set style of items
Select font, set bold, italic and under line to each item (RTF, HTML). Set font size, frame thickness and color of background and character (HTML).

Export & open file

Click HTM/RTF/Simple List or Table buttons. Click "Export" button in each output page. Open file by drag & drop of file on Microsoft Word or web browser or HTML editor.

1. Click "List Maker" button2. Import data
Using SampleData included in FM Style Maker, I explain how to use FM Style Maker. Click "Import Data" button.You can import up to 8 items.
3. Make Label
Put name of each item in the Label field.4. Sort of records
Click "Sort" button. Sort records using item1 to Item8 to which you want. For example, select Item 4 with ascending order5. Input serial number
Click "Input serial No" to input serial number to all records according to current order. "Delete serial No" button deletes current serial numbers.6. Set order & delimitors
1) Set order of items Set form of the number from pop-up menu. If you select "none", the numbers of record are omitted. Then select the order of items from pop-up menu.2) Set delimitors The delimitors in the upper compartment of the pop-up menu have space, those of the middle have no space, and that of the lowermost is used to edit pop-up menu.
Delimitors with space (upper)
The uppermost is space.
The others have space after the characters of period, comma, semicolon, colon and closed parentheses. Initial parentheses have space before characters.
Delimitors without space (middle)
The uppermost is blank. This option is used to delete the character once settled.
The others have no space after the characters.
Edit... (lower) This is used to edit pop-up menu.
7. Set style of items
1) Select font from pop-up menu. Check bold, italic or underline below the items like below example.
2) Check font size (3 stands for 12 point), body color and text color. You can check the color of number and sentence separately (HTML only).
8. Export & open file
Click "HTM List" button to go to HTML List Page.
If you want to arrange the order of records, you can re-write the number in the number box. Left button sorts the records according to the numbers that you re-wrote.
Click "Export HTM list" button. Select "Tab-Separated Text" as a file type. Drag & drop the exported text file on the program icon of web browser, HTML editor, or Microsoft Word (HTML compatible word processor).

B. RTF List

Step 1-6 are the same as those of HTM List explained above.7. Set style of items
1) Select font from pop-up menu. Check bold, italic or underline below the items like below example.2) You can select either tab or space after number, and either add line or no line between records.
8. Export & open file
Click "RTF List" button to go to RTF List Page.* AppleWorks and WordPerferct, etc.
If you want to arrange the order of records, you can re-write the number in the number box. Left button sorts the records according to the numbers that you re-wrote.
These buttons show each step of making rich text using FileMaker Pro. FM Style Maker makes RTF header and footer as dummy records (step 2), sorts for correct order (step 3), exports a text file (step 4) and deletes dummy records (step 5).
"Export RTF" button serially performs step 2 to step 5. Select "Tab-Separated Text" as a file type. Drag & drop the exported text file on the program icon of Microsoft Word (RTF compatible word processor)*.

C. Simple Text
List

1) Bold/italic/underline and font settings are not available in simple text.
2) You can select either tab or space after number.8. Export & open file
Click "Text List" button to go to Plain Text List Page.
If you want to arrange the order of records, you can re-write the number in the number box. Left button sorts the records according to the numbers that you re-wrote.
Click "Export Plain Text" button. Select "Tab-Separated Text" as a file type. Drag & drop the exported text file on the program icon of any word processor or text editor.

2) Check text color. You can set text color to each box separated by table frame that you gave "->" character in the pop-up menu. If two or more items are connected in one table box, the text color of the first item is used in the following items. Therefore, radio buttons for the following items do not work. N/A (not available)marks appear before such radio buttons. Check radio button of body color located at left of HTML window.
3) Select align number in the Table, select frame thickness of the Table and check font size (3 stands for 12 point).
8. Export & open file
Click "HTM Table" button to go to HTML Table Page.

Items used in Rich Text Table must be short enough to fall into one row per one record. FM Style Maker has a option displaying only first subitem separated by comma in the Item1 field. For example, you can display first author included in the Item1 field by selecting Item1F (F: first) in the pup-up menu.2.-5.
