I say, then, Did God cast away His people? let it not be! for I also am
an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin: (KJV)

God did not cast away His people whom He knew before; have ye not known -- in
Elijah -- what the Writing saith? how he doth plead with God concerning Israel,
saying, (KJV) God hath not cast away his people which he
foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh
intercession to God against Israel saying, (ASV) God did not
cast off his people which he foreknew. Or know ye not what the scripture saith
of Elijah? how he pleadeth with God against Israel: |

monov kai zhtousin thn quchn mou (YLT) `Lord, Thy prophets
they did kill, and Thy altars they dug down, and I was left alone, and they
seek my life;' (KJV) Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and
digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

gegonen (YLT) So then also in the present time a remnant
according to the choice of grace there hath been; (KJV) Even

it did not obtain, and the chosen did obtain, and the rest were hardened,

according as it hath been written, `God gave to them a spirit of deep sleep,
eyes not to see, and ears not to hear,' -- unto this very day, (KJV)

a trap, and for a stumbling-block, and for a recompense to them;

let their eyes be darkened -- not to behold, and their back do Thou

I say, then, Did they stumble that they might fall? let it not be! but
by their fall the salvation is to the nations, to arouse them to
jealousy; (KJV) I say then, Have they stumbled that they
should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto
the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. (ASV) I say

(GRK) ei de to paraptwma autwn ploutov kosmou kai to htthma autwn
ploutov eynwn posw mallon to plhrwma autwn (YLT) and if the
fall of them is the riches of a world, and the diminution of them the
riches of nations, how much more the fulness of them? (KJV)
Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them
the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness? (ASV)

indeed an apostle of nations, my ministration I do glorify; (KJV)

own flesh, and shall save some of them, (KJV) If by any means
I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of

And if certain of the branches were broken off, and thou, being a wild olive
tree, wast graffed in among them, and a fellow-partaker of the root and of the
fatness of the olive tree didst become -- (KJV) And if some

in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive

mh katakaucw twn kladwn ei de katakaucasai ou su thn rizan bastazeiv all h riza
se (YLT) do not boast against the branches; and if thou dost
boast, thou dost not bear the root, but the root thee! (KJV)
Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root,
but the root thee. (ASV) glory not over the branches: but if
thou gloriest, it is not thou that bearest the root, but the root thee.

Lo, then, goodness and severity of God -- upon those indeed who fell,
severity; and upon thee, goodness, if thou mayest remain in the goodness,
otherwise, thou also shalt be cut off. (KJV) Behold therefore
the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward
thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be

also, if they may not remain in unbelief, shall be graffed in, for God is able
again to graff them in; (KJV) And they also, if they abide
not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in

enekentrisyhv eiv kallielaion posw mallon outoi oi kata fusin egkentrisyhsontai
th idia elaia (YLT) for if thou, out of the olive tree, wild
by nature, wast cut out, and, contrary to nature, wast graffed into a good
olive tree, how much rather shall they, who are according to nature, be
graffed into their own olive tree? (KJV) For if thou wert cut
out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to
nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural
branches, be graffed into their own olive tree? (ASV) For if

ignorant, brethren, of this secret -- that ye may not be wise in your own
conceits -- that hardness in part to Israel hath happened till the fulness of
the nations may come in; (KJV) For I would not, brethren,
that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own
conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of
the Gentiles be come in. (ASV) For I would not, brethren, have
you ignorant of this mystery, lest ye be wise in your own conceits, that a
hardening in part hath befallen Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be

and so all Israel shall be saved, according as it hath been written,
`There shall come forth out of Sion he who is delivering, and he shall turn
away impiety from Jacob, (KJV) And so all Israel shall be
saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall
turn away ungodliness from Jacob: (ASV) and so all Israel

and this to them is the covenant from Me, when I may take away

Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they

unbelief, that to the whole He might do kindness. (KJV) For
