Help on Control & Status

Dialup Connections

If a dialup host is currently connected, Fire Door will show the name of the host, how long it has been connected and how long till it is disconnected. There will also be displayed a "Disconnect" button. Pressing this button will cause Fire Door to disconnect from the dialup host immediately, regardless of the status of the data connections.

If no dialup host is currently connected, Fire Door will display a "Connect" button and a select control with the names of the possible dialup hosts. To connect to a dialup host, select the appropriate host name from the select control and press the 'Connect" button. Fire Door will then autodial and connect to that dialup.

Connected Hosts

The Connected Hosts list contains all of the names, or IP addresses if its name is unknown, of machines which have initiated connections with Fire Door. Each host will appear only once regardless of the number of connections it has opened. The amount of time remaining until the host is automatically disconnected due to inactivity is also displayed.

The maximum number of hosts in this list is determined by the maximum number of users authorised by your registration key. See the Register Help page for more information.

To close the all data connections for a particular host, select the "Release" button next to the appropriate users host.

Active Data Connections

This section shows the number of active TCP data connections being processed by Fire Door. This can be useful in determining why Fire Door does not automatically hangup the dialup connection to the remote host. It will not hang up on inactivity if any connections are still active. Thus a very slow FTP will not get cut off before completion, provided some data is still arriving!
