After getting familiar with the current disk layout, it's time to shut down the machine and install the new disk.
After attaching the drive, you must make sure your system's BIOS recognizes it. The BIOS is usually accessed by pressing the "Delete" or "F1" key as the computer boots up. Most BIOS' include an option to automatically detect disks. So after confirming the BIOS has detected the new disk, it's then OK to boot into Linux and begin the next process.
