PD Introduction

These pages written for you are all about the Spectrum PD scene at the moment, and a few other things too. Yes, it exists! And is still quite active actually - not just me (I just finished a demo on 16 May!).

They were written by John Garner who believes that he has the relevant knowledge (and enough of it) to write coherently about it. Whether or not that is true, you will see. More to the point, he has been bothered to write it all up here and had the privilege of being allowed on this site (my university isn't quite ready for us yet).

Apart from this set of documents, there's Icabods few small pages on PD demos (well small at the moment, in relation to mine!).

As they are all pretty recently designed, don't expect too much in the style department, and not that much in the way of graphics as yet. No, pardon me, the correct phrase is 'text-friendly'!
I do however welcome any comments you may have, in fact they will be pretty essential if these pages are to get anywhere. You can email me at the address at the bottom of this document, or send a comment to me directly. Here then, is a brief summary (for quick access) to the documents you can now peruse.

There are also several PD libraries around, who have a big collection of software and you can pay a small amount to cover the cost of duplicating and postage so that they can supply the software to you. Note that it is ILLEGAL to make a profit out of selling PD software (which has a proper definition by law) although they are allowed to charge a reasonable amount towards costs such as keeping the hardware working, postage etc. Of course, if swapping between friends, you don't worry about this.

I am sure that the lists of information about user groups, clubs and demos are not all-enclosing and there will be others that I have not included - this is usually because I have not heard of them - so it would be most useful for you to let me know, preferably with an address to contact unless they would prefer not to (though I can't see why).
