Brief explanation of Media Files. PC HOLD builds and plays playlists. It also allows for the recording of "announcements" using your computer. Playlists can be built featuring all music, all announcements or a mixture of both.
MIDI Files PC HOLD uses MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) files to play music. Each MIDI file is a complete tune. Most computers have at least a few MIDI files on the hard drive - the files have a filename extension of ".mid." Three MIDI files come royalty-free with PC HOLD to get the user started. (While thousands of "free" MIDI files can be downloaded from the Internet, the user should note that copyright laws may require the payment of royalty fees to copyright holders for other than "personal use" of MIDI files).
CD Tracks (not yet implemented) CD music or voice announcements on CD can also be used after being set in a playlist for PC HOLD. The CD recordings can easily be mixed with other items in the playlist. Again, copyright laws pertain to this media.
Wave Files High fidelity voice recordings made on the computer as announcements or advertisements are saved to the hard drive as "Wave files." These files have a filename extension of ".wav." Other wave files can be used in the playlist such as various sound effects, professional voice announcements recorded on other computers, etc. |
