WinToday Introduction |
What it is: WinToday is a shareware Windows desktop program which displays important events and reminders for the day in an easy-to-export manner. Plus you can enter, via the toolbar, any other date to display the important events for that day. We supply you with thousands of historical dates and birthdays and, of course, you can easily add and delete from this data base.
What it is not: WinToday is not freeware. It's shareware. Free to try it out for 30 days; if you like it, send us $15 and you can continue to use it. If unregistered after 30 days WinToday will not navigate to any other day except the current date. Plus WinToday's execution will be delayed 30 seconds on your 30th day of use and the delay will increase one second per day there after.
WinToday has withstood the test of time. For years friends and family members have used WinToday many times a day. I think you will find it very useful.
What you get: Although WinToday comes with over 7,500 historical dates, it is by no means suppose to be an all inclusive history of humankind. The database is merely a startup collection of ecletic events and birthdays. And, in the way of a disclaimer, we don't 100% guarentee the veracity of information supplied.
In other words, we supply the delivery vechicle and collection of historical events to get you going. It's up to you to fine tune the collection with additions and deletions. That what we do on a daily basis.

Installing WinToday |
Normal Install
Manual Install
You can put the WINTODAYxx.ZIP files in any directory with any name. But it is important that ALL the files are in the same directory. The first time WINTODAY.EXE is executed it registers it's current directory. (If you move the files later you have to "tell" WinToday where it's new home is via the menu: View | Options | Today's Directory.) We suggest you create a C:\WINTODAY directory. Put all the files in the WINTODAYxx.ZIP in C:\WINTODAY. (TIP: when using WinZip, hit the EXTRACT button and type C:\WINTODAY in the 'Extract To:' box. Then WinZip will create the directory for you and copy the files there.)
After unzipping all the files open Windows Explorer to your WINTODAY directory, find and select (not execute) WINTODAY.EXE then drag to desktop and/or Start buttom to create a shortcut. (TIP: If you'd like WINTODAY to run each time you boot the computer also drag to your C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp folder.) NOTE: We are talking about making shortcuts, not moving or copying WINTODAY.EXE.
