2-9. Playing Your Music Files

If any of your Album or Opera entries are in the form of MP3 files, Brutus can launch the MP3 player with a playlist of all the tracks in that Album or Opera. There are a couple of things that you have to do first, however. The first thing you have to do is make sure that you have an MP3 player installed on your system. The other thing you have to do is to register its name and location with Brutus:

From the Configure menu, select MP3 Player. You will then be presented with an input dialog asking for the Path and FileName of your MP3 player, like in the image below:

Be sure to enter the path and filename completely including the drive, (e.g. d:\pathname\filename.ext where d: is the drive letter, pathname is the complete path, including all nodes in the path, and filename.ext is the name of the executable file for your player, which might be something like realplay.exe) and then click OK.

After registering your player with Brutus, whenever you have an Album or an Opera displayed in the Main Window, and this Album/Opera has tracks named and a Media type of File, you can click on the Options menu and see that the Play MP3 option has been enabled. By clicking on this option, Brutus will launch the player, using the path and filename you entered, together with a playlist of all the files listed in the current item's track table. If the Media type is anything other than File, or there are no tracks listed in the track table, this option will be disabled.
