What is your real name?
Sanna Korpela

What is your age?
21

Where are you from?
Finland

How long have you been tracking?
I'm fairly new at this, I first downloaded FT2 sometime in late -98, but it took me some months to actually get working on it. So I'd say I really started tracking in 1999.

Do you play any real instruments?
I went through the classic forced piano lessons as a kid, and moved on to synths when metal hit me in the head like a hammer as a teen. Disregarding some pathetic experiments with drums and bass in school, keyboard instruments are what I know best.

If so, for how long?
Hmmm, hard to say really... I started those piano lessons when I was 6, that went on for about 3-4 years, after which my practicing has been somewhat erratic.

What 3 genres of music are your favorites?
Symphonic/melodic metal, wimpy piano ballads... can't really think of a third one. But I do like Garbage, for instance, and assorted stuff from a wide range of genres. The Gummibears-theme is excellent.

9. Who is your favorite tracker and why?
N/A

If there was aspect of tracking you wish you were better at, what would it be?
Definitely the technical side, improving the actual quality of the sound. Getting the instruments to sound more realistic and flowing. I've always been more into the composing part, that's what I love, and neglected the actual tracking. But naturally the tracking affects what the music feels like for the listener, so a good piece of music isn't enough, it should sound good as well. That's what I'll be working on in the near future.

Why did you choose the song you Metalicized?
Well, "House Of The Rising Sun" is a classic that everyone should know. It has only one chord progression, but it offers a lot of possibilities for experimentation and altering, which is why I liked the idea. It was kind of a challenge to take that one chord pattern and turn it into blackish metal, AND try to keep it from getting repetitive. When Kosm offered to do the vocals, that was the final thing that made me decide I'll do it.

How long did it take you to track it?
One day. Tracking for about an hour, then doing something else to clear my head, then tracking an hour again. Kosm then added the vocals during the following few days (as well as altered the lyrics a bit).

How satisfied are you with your song?
Very satisfied indeed. Naturally the tracking could be better, but I'm very pleased with the adaptation of the song into this particular style. There's a lot of stuff going on there that's not in the original song, loads of extra melodies and harmonies, beat changes... yet there's constantly the familiar chord progression underneath it all. I'm rather proud of the composition work, and I'm also pleased with Kosm's vocals, which turned out exactly as sick and evil as this tune requires. They just fit like a glove.
