Parameter list:

The following is a list of parameters which this applet understands. There are defaults for every setting so in reality you don't need to set anything. The information below is organized in the following format:

param name - (possible values) description
msgfx - (0-11)
This tells the applet what effect to apply to the msg
0 - show all the effects in order
1 - scroll text right to left
2 - scroll text bottom to top
3 - scroll one character at a time from right to left then scroll them off the left side
4 - drops all the text characters at different rates
5 - mesh even and odd characters from right and left
6 - mesh even and odd characters from top and bottom
7 - randomly place the text characters on the screen
8 - computer printout style
9 - drop one character at a time
10 - shows a msg, waits then shows other msg
11 - drop one character at a time, outside to inside
msg1 - Your 1st msg
msg2 - Your 2nd msg
:
msg100 - Your 100th msg
etc...
You can display as many messages as you like as long as you have enough memory. Just make sure the msgs are in order and you don't skip a number.
msgorder - (0,1)
What order the msgs are displayed.
0 - in sequence msg1 first, then msg2, then msg3 etc...
1 - msgs are displayed in random order
msgfont - {Courier, Dialog, Helvetica, TimesRoman, Symbol)
You can select from the 5 available Java supported fonts
msgstyle - (plain, bold, italic)
You can also mix the styles. Ex: bold+italic
msgcolor - ( black, blue, cyan, darkGray, gray, green, lightGray, magenta, orange, pink, red, white, yellow or hex value Ex. 0x023DAB, AB947F, #a43bc3)
The color of the text may be any of the above colors or any hex number
msgsize - (any number)
You can pass in any number for the size of the font
msgpause - (any number)
How long to pause the msg. Or how long to pause between msgs. It depends on the effect you choose.
1000=1sec, 2000=2sec etc...
bgcolor - ( black, blue, cyan, darkGray, gray, green, lightGray, magenta, orange, pink, red, white, yellow or any hex value Ex. 0x1234AB, AB947F, #a43bc3)
The background color of the applet may be any of the above colors or any hex number
bgimage - ( file name of the image )
The background image you'll like to display in the applet
speed - (any number)
How much time passes before the applet gets a chance to do its thing.
Lower numbers mean the applet gets to run more often. Thus the animation is faster.
1000=1sec. Typical values: 10-100
msgoptions
Currently unused.

The following params deal with the placement of the text and the speed of the animation. Note: Not all params are used by each animation. For instance msgsfx 1 uses only the msgoffsetbottom param.
msgoffsettop - (any number)
How many pixels from the top the message will be displayed
msgoffsetbottom - (any number)
How many pixels from the bottom the message will be displayed
msgoffsetleft - (any number)
How many pixels from the left the message will be displayed
msgoffsetright - (any number)
How many pixels from the right the message will be displayed
msgscrollspeed - (any number)
How many pixels to move the message. This is used during the execution of the applet to determine the next position of the message.

THE FOLLOWING ARE AVAILABLE FOR REGISTERED USERS ONLY:
Registered users can launch to any URL if the applet is clicked. Non registered users will always launch to my home page.
regcode
If you register by phone you will be given a temporary code to activate the extra feature(s). A permanent unique code and password file will be emailed to you shortly.
url0
The default url to goto when the banner is clicked.
url1
The url to goto when the banner is clicked and the 1st message is displayed.
url2
The url to goto when the banner is clicked and the 2nd message is displayed.
:
url100
The url to goto when the banner is clicked and the 100th message is displayed.
etc...

If no url is supplied for a message then clicking on the message will have no effect. However if you use param 'url0' then the banner will attempt to goto that url whenever a message with no url is clicked.

How to register:

Before registering it is strongly recommended that you have an email account. After registering you will shortly be emailed a unique userid and password file to use with your applet.

The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or conse-
quential, which may result from the use of BannerEffects."

BannerEffects is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
another system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to
provide personal computer users with quality software without
high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to
continue to develop new products.  If you find this program
useful and find that you are using BannerEffects and continue to use
BannerEffects after a reasonable trial period, you must make a reg-
istration payment of $15 (U.S.) to Gary Poon.  The $15 (U.S.)
registration fee will license one copy for use on any one
computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just like
a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any
number of people and may be freely moved from one computer
location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it
being used at one location while it's being used at another.
Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the
same time.

Commercial users of BannerEffects must register and pay for their
copies of BannerEffects within 30 days of first use or their license
is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made by con-
tacting Gary Poon.

Anyone distributing BannerEffects for any kind of remuneration must
first contact Gary Poon for authorization.
This authorization will be automatically granted to distributors
recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for
shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin offering
BannerEffects immediately (However Gary Poon must still be advised so
that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest
version of BannerEffects.).

You are encouraged to pass a copy of BannerEffects along to your
friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their
copy if they find that they can use it.
