Scheduler is a useful utility that you can program with a list of events that you want it to take action for. This could be things you want to be reminded of, like birthdays, appointments, tests, deadlines, anything. When events arrive, Scheduler can deliver a reminder message, execute a script or command, launch an application, or invoke an add-on handler. The event handler add-on API is public, so third parties (or users if they have the inclination) can make their own event handlers. The program is flexible enough to be used for everything from just reminding you of birthdays yearly to being a day-to-day planner/organizer, or even for regularly scheduled system/network maintainance like performing hard drive backups.

Scheduler also has an invisible background partner application, so
that if you wish, it will deliver events even when it isn't running.
It can deliver events from an unlimited number of event sets, and has
a very flexible settings system for determining which sets actually
deliver events.
The system for determining when events are delivered is also very flexible, with twelve different modes for determining the timing and repetition interval of events (annually, monthly, weekly, daily, multiples of each of the above, one time, weekdays, weekends, and subdaily).
Scheduler can deliver periodic prewarnings before the actual event time and "nag" after an event has occurred until the user tells it to stop. The timing and repetition of prewarnings and nagging is also very flexible. So, for example, it can remind you a week before somebody' birthday to get a card (prewarning), remind you to call on their birthday (the event), and make sure that you actually sent a card and called afterwards (nagging), and when the user tells it to stop nagging, the event counter will be reset to prewarning for the next year.
