2 - Installation

Installation from Software Valet package: The installation procedure is very simple. Simply double click the provided Software Valet package, read the end user license agreement, click accept, then select where to install Scheduler. By default, the installation procedure places the following line in your UserBootscript:

/boot/apps/Scheduler/Scheduler -background

This will launch Scheduler at startup time, however the -background command line option tells it not to present any Event set windows or user interface. Rather, it will simply deliver any events that were missed since the BeOS was last shut down, start its invisible background companion waiting for the next event, then quit. In this way, when you start up the computer, any missed or current events will be delivered, and when it is time to deliver the next event, Scheduler will do so, without having had to be run by the user and without a continuous (and annoying) presence in the Deskbar.

Installation from zip archive: Double-click the archive to expand it, then place the Scheduler folder wherever you want it, probably in /boot/apps. To have Scheduler check for and deliver events whenever the computer is started without having to manually launch Scheduler, place the following line in your UserBootscript:

/boot/apps/Scheduler/Scheduler -background

This will launch Scheduler at startup time, however the -background command line option tells it not to present any Event set windows or user interface. Rather, it will simply deliver any events that were missed since the BeOS was last shut down, start its invisible background companion waiting for the next event, then quit. The UserBootscript can be found in /boot/home/config/boot.
